Since the 17th century, Saint Barthélemy is a colony of France, but over the years, it changed hands several times, such as under the control of Malta, Sweden and the British crown, still, eventually, since the end of 19th century, Saint Barthélemy is under French control until today. However, Saint Barthélemy was under the French administration of Guadeloupe until 2007 when it has become a separate French Territorial Collectivity following referendum, still, eventually, Saint Barthélemy has become OCT of the EU (Overseas Countries and Territories-OCT). Hence, currently, Saint Barthélemy has the status of Overseas Collectivity of France namely, the President of France is the Head of State of Saint Barthélemy that represented by the Prefect, which appointed by President of France.
